Intensive course of KiteFoil in Hyères in the Var (83)
Kite foiling, also called foilboarding, hydrofoil kiteboarding, foil kitesurfing, is not as complicated as it sounds. It is simply kitesurfing with the addition of a hydrofoil under the board.
5 day Kitefoil course
The foil allows you to fly a kite over the water. The kite foil is faster because the foil cuts through the water with minimal drag. Foil fans love the quiet experience of sailing above the water surface. You can sail smoothly, even in rough weather.
The foil has been around since the beginning of kitesurfing’s short history, but it has received increased attention in recent times due to its use by professional kitesurfers.
Requirements
The practice of foiling is accessible to independent practitioners.
Some tips for kitefoiling
Kite foiling takes some learning, even if you are a good kiter. Be patient and commit to learning it as you would any other new discipline.
You will have to put more weight on your front foot than you are used to. In addition to pushing off with it, you need to lean your weight forward. It’s better to take a nose dive with a foil than to have it jump behind you. You should also put pressure on your toes to keep the board flat. Try not to tuck too much with your heels.
Conduct of the kitefoil lessons :
- Schedule the time slot the day before by phone to determine the best weather slot
- Meeting at the nautical base 10 minutes before the lessons in order to validate the licences
- Allocation of equipment and briefing before departure
- Departure by boat directly to the base
- Practice kite lessons in the open water or on the beach
- Debriefing at the end of the lessons at the school
Foil course for beginners
Our Foil courses include 3 sessions to introduce you to the practice of kitefoil.
A session with a foil towed behind the boat allows you to learn about the tool and to discover the supports.
A second session with a “baby foil” allows you to learn gently with less amplitude thanks to the shorter mast. The baby foil is specially developed for beginners.
The third session with the long mast foil to perfect your skills and start having fun.
Advanced foil course
Our advanced foil courses allow you to become more comfortable on the foil.
Equipped with a foil with a long mast to progress and learn the manoeuvres, you will try your first jibes, tacks and refine the work of the points of sail (upwind and downwind).
You can of course use your own foil for your lessons!
